From time immemorial, the four races of Ilex looked to the Kuiisu for guidance, knowledge, and salvation. They revered the Kuiisu as gods on earth, sent from the divine long ago to liberate Ilex from barbarism. But as the races grew wiser, the power the Kuiisu maintained over them was lost. Already plagued by hatred for each other, the four races fought a war which swept the globe and swallowed the Kuiisu in its terrible glory. Or did it?

Generations later, the seeds of distrust and fear grow again. The lands are awash with expectation of another Great War. Skirmishes between the races are common; tolerance borne from the last war has nearly died. Then, rumors whisper of salvation in the form of the Star of Ilex, one who will bring divinity back to the people. Many wonder if the gods of long ago will return. Four unlikely uncompanions set out in search of the Star, wondering if they will find it before war destroys them all.

:3 I'm still working on the rest, and this is only a first draft. The blurb is new and not up on Incyanity yet. I feel confident I'm going to be able to integrate this new beginning (so much of it that is planned at the moment, anyway) into the latter part of the story without too much trouble. It's just getting the rest planned out to be able to get to that point that is the challenge!
